dc.description.abstract | Merek District is one of the sub-districts in Karo Regency that experienced changes in land cover, caused by the eruption of Mount Sinabung in 2010, this sub-district has a large enough area of around 24.334,15 Ha. Changes in land use certainly cause an imbalance in the ecosystem so it is necessary to classify land cover in order to determine and measure changes that occur in land use in Merek District. Land Cover Change Analysis of Karo Regency was conducted with a combination of guided classification and on-screen digitization. This study aims to identify the type of land use in Merek Subdistrict in 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2023 and also to analyze changes in land cover and land use in Merek Subdistrict using NDVI, data management techniques in this study using ArcGIS 10.8 Software analysis tools and Microsoft Excel. This research was conducted in July-August 2024. The results of this study show that during the period 2009-2023 the most dominating land use change occurred in the land cover plantation forests reduced by -1.307,05 Ha (-56,68%). Land cover class changes that occurred in Sub-district of Merek during the period 2009-2023 was generally caused by community activities, which include the conversion of secondary dry forest land caused and plantation forests by deforestation and land conversion for land use. caused by deforestation activities and land conversion for other purposes such as settlements, agriculture and open land | en_US |
