Effectiveness Analysis and Improvement Design Facility Layout Using Corelap Algorithm at PT. Rahmat Kurnia Abadi
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the production facility layout and to design layout improvements at PT Rahmat Kurnia Abadi using the CORELAP algorithm. The main issue identified is the failure to achieve production targets despite adequate raw material supply and controlled defect rates. The analysis of the current layout reveals problems such as backtracking, long material transfer distances, and unbalanced workstation capacities. The research methods include collecting primary and secondary data, measuring material transfer distances, calculating the Line Efficiency Rate (LER), and redesigning the layout using the CORELAP algorithm, both manually and with Corelap 1.0 software. The results show that the proposed layout using CORELAP software reduces the total material transfer distance from 708.15 meters to 492 meters, decreases material transfer time from 22.45 minutes to 15.19 minutes, and increases LER from 52.68% to 79.67%. Furthermore, material handling costs are significantly reduced. The facility layout redesign with the CORELAP algorithm is proven effective in improving material flow efficiency and production output. This research provides an optimal layout recommendation that can serve as a reference for continuous improvement in the company.
