Sintesis Metil Oleat dari Asam Oleat dan Metanol pada Variasi Rasio Mol dan Kecepatan Pengadukan Homogenizer Menggunakan Katalis CaO/Zeolit
Synthesis of Methyl Oleate From Oleic Acid and Methanol In Variation of Mole Ratio and Homogenizer Stirring Speed Using Cao/Zeolite Catalyst
Abstract
Synthesis of methyl oleate from the reaction of esterification reaction between oleic acid and methanol catalyzed by CaO/Zeolite catalyst using a homogenizer device. The CaO/Zeolite catalyst was made through the process of impregnating calcium acetate into zeolite which was calcined at a temperature of 700°C for 3 hours and then analyzed using spektrofotometer ATR-FTIR, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). Based on analysis results showed that CaO/Zeolite element contained Ca (63,4%), Si (19,4%), dan Al (3,6%). ATR-FTIR data shows that the calcium acetate compound has decomposed into CaO, which is indicated by the appearance of peaks at wave numbers 872 cm⁻¹ and 1401,5 cm⁻¹. Meanwhile, the peaks at 715 cm⁻¹ and 1028 cm⁻¹ indicate the interaction between Si and Al from zeolite with Ca from CaO forming a CaO/Zeolite structure. The reaction conditions carried out in this study were the mol ratio (1:3, 1:6, 1:9, 1:12, 1:15, and 1:18) and the percent conversion analyzed by using gas chromatography and ATR-FTIR spectrophotometer. The conversion and yield of methyl oleate for variations mol ratio was obtained at 97,20% ± 0,17% and 86,22% ± 4,94% under reaction conditions mol ratio 1:15, a catalyst weight 18% (w/w), 45 minutes reaction time, and mixing speed 4000 rpm. The conversion and yield of methyl oleate for variations mixing speed was obtained at 97,45% ± 0,74% and ,86,06% ± 1,57% was obtained at mol ratio 1:15, a catalyst weight 18% (w/w), 45 minutes reaction time, and mixing speed 4000 rpm.The analysis results of gas chromatography showed that the conversion of methyl ester reached 76,99%.
