ABSTRACT
Literature is an expression of human life that is inseparable from its societal roots, and is an imaginative reflection of social reality. Literary works are not merely imitations of reality, but rather are the author's creative interpretation of the life around him. This study aims to examine the moral values in Boy Candra's novel Cinta Paling Complicated using a sociological literary approach. This novel tells the emotional journey of two main characters, Sri Wartini and Moli, who face various inner and social conflicts. Sri Wartini is depicted as a strong woman who harbors emotional wounds from an unresolved past, while Moli is a male character who tries to understand the meaning of love, sacrifice, and sincerity in a relationship. The moral values analyzed cover four aspects, namely human relationships with God, oneself, fellow humans, and the surrounding environment. The results of the study show that Sri Wartini reflects moral values such as fortitude, hope, sincerity, forgiveness, and honesty. Meanwhile, Moli represents values such as self-introspection, courage, selfless love, ecological awareness, and responsibility. Thus, it can be concluded that literary works can be an effective medium in conveying moral messages to readers and play a role in character formation in social life.
