Pasar Tradisional Kampung Lalang Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Hijau
Kampung Lalang Traditional Market With Green Building Approaches
Abstract
The city of Medan is one of the largest cities in Indonesia, with a high level of
productivity in the economic sector, marked by significant growth, particularly in
the trade sector. One of the main drivers of this economic growth is the presence
of competent human resources (HR). Therefore, adequate facilities are required
to support the smooth flow of economic activities. Markets are one of the key
elements that significantly contribute to this economic dynamic. The design of
this market aims to create a comfortable and high-quality environment for both
sellers and buyers to conduct transactions.
The design method begins with the collection of primary and secondary data
through field surveys, direct observation of the object being studied,
documentation of existing conditions, literature studies, and comparative studies
with similar research objects. The collected data is then analyzed to form a
concept, which ultimately results in the production of design drawings.
In this design, the Green Building approach is applied to create
environmentally friendly architecture and minimize negative impacts on nature
and the surrounding environment. This approach refers to several variables set
by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI), such as Effective Land Use,
Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Water Conservation, Air Quality, Indoor
Thermal Comfort, and Building Environmental Management. This approach is
expected to minimize negative environmental impacts and provide positive
effects on the area being designed.
