Pengaruh Penambahan Nanosilika Abu Cangkang Kelapa Sawit pada Bahan Basis Gigi Tiruan Resin Akrilik Polimerisasi Panas Terhadap Penyerapan Air
Effect of Addition of Palm Shell Ash Nanosilica to Denture Base Material Heat Cured Acrylic Resin on Water Absorption
Abstract
The most commonly used denture base material is heat cure acrylic resin. The
disadvantage of this material is that it easily absorbs water. This can be overcome by
the addition of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica. The purpose of this study was to
determine the effect of the addition of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica at a
concentration of 5% and 6% to heat cure acrylic resin denture base material on the
water absorption. This research was carried out on samples without and with the
addition of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica at concentrations of 5% and 6%. There
were 27 samples measuring 50×0.5 mm. The samples were tested by weighing the
weight of the material that had been soaked in water using an analytical balance to
determine the value of water absorption. Value analysis with univariate test to
determine the mean value and standard deviation, one-way ANOVA test to determine
the effect, and LSD test to determine significant differences. The results of this study
obtained the mean value and standard deviation of the control group of 4.99 ± 1.00
µg/mm3, the 5% concentration group was 3.79 ± 0.94 µg/mm3, and the 6%
concentration group was 2.23 ± 1.06 µg/mm3. There is a significant effect with a
value of p=0.001. There were significant differences between the control group and
the 5% and 6% concentration groups with a value of p=0.019 and p=0,001. From the
results, it is known that the denture base materials with addition of palm kernel shell
ash nanosilica at a concentration of 6% has the lowest water absorption value.
