This study analyzes emissions and the performance of a stationary Otto engine using a fuel blend of coal pyrolysis oil (coal oil) and Pertalite as an alternative fuel. Coal oil, produced from coal pyrolysis, has a calorific value close to gasoline but contains a high sulfur content, requiring an assessment of its impact on emissions and combustion performance in stationary Otto engines. This research examines variations of coal oil and Pertalite blends aiming to balance engine performance and environmental aspects. The test results show that the B20 blend (20% coal oil) at 3600 rpm achieved the highest power of 372.2 watts with torque of 0.98794 Nm, the highest thermal efficiency of 13.36%, and the lowest specific fuel consumption (SFC) of 823.304 g/kWh. Regarding emissions, this blend also yielded lower CO and HC compared to blends with lower coal oil content. Conversely, the highest CO emission occurred in the B10 blend at 3600 rpm with a value of 8.33%. This study indicates that blending coal pyrolysis oil with Pertalite can improve engine efficiency while reducing harmful gas emissions, thus having potential as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel and supporting sustainable energy transition policies in Indonesia.
