Compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) refers to employees’ adherence in utilizing PPE as a preventive measure against occupational illnesses. Gas station operators are individuals or teams responsible for the daily operational activities at Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU), engaging directly with customers during fuel dispensing services. This study aims to examine the correlation between knowledge and attitudes with PPE compliance among SPBU COCO personnel under the jurisdiction of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, particularly within Medan City. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 60 male and female operators were included in the sample, selected through total sampling. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods, employing the chi-square test. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents demonstrated insufficient knowledge (27 respondents or 45%), unfavorable attitudes (45 respondents or 75%), and low compliance in PPE usage (39 respondents or 65%). The statistical results indicated a significant association between knowledge and PPE compliance (p-value = 0.008 ≤ 0.05), as well as between attitude and PPE compliance (p-value = 0.003 ≤ 0.05). Accordingly, it is advised that the company reinforce educational initiatives and monitoring related to PPE usage, and foster greater awareness of workplace safety among employees through continuous training and capacity-building programs.en_US
