dc.description.abstractIn a dynamic work environment, employee performance is influenced by the level of work engagement and the organization’s ability to manage exploration and exploitation in a balanced manner (ambidexterity). Organizations that can effectively implement ambidexterity are able to encourage employees to be more innovative, ultimately contributing to improved performance. This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of work engagement and ambidextrous organizations on employee performance with innovative behavior as a mediating variable at the Department of Housing and Settlement Areas of North Sumatra Province. This research is a quantitative study with an explanatory research design. The population consists of all employees at the Department of Housing and Settlement Areas of North Sumatra Province, totaling 75 individuals. The sampling technique used is total sampling, where the entire population is used as the research sample. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the study show that work engagement has a positive and significant direct effect on employee performance, and ambidextrous organization also has a positive and significant direct effect on employee performance. Furthermore, innovative behavior has a positive and significant direct effect on employee performance, and both work engagement and ambidextrous organization positively and significantly influence innovative behavior. As a mediating variable, innovative behavior enables work engagement and ambidextrous organization to affect employee performance through employees’innovative behavior at the Department of Housing and Settlement Areas of North Sumatra Province.en_US
