dc.description.abstract | Mangosteen is a fruit plant that contains many properties, especially found
in mangosteen skin. The generative propagation of mangosteen by utilizing seeds
is less profitable because mangosteen seeds are recalcitrant. Conventional
vegetative propagation has not been able to fulfill the needs of mangosteen
seedlings properly. Therefore, vegetative propagation using tissue culture method
is needed to meet the needs of mangosteen seedlings. This study aims to determine
the effect of the addition of NAA and BAP on the growth of mangosteen (Garcinia
mangostana L.) shoot tips in vitro. This research was conducted at the
Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara,
Medan City, North Sumatra Province from January to May 2025. This study used
the RAL method (Completely Randomized Design) with two factors. The first factor
is the addition of NAA with concentrations: 0 ppm, 1 ppm, and 2 ppm. The second
factor is the addition of BAP with concentrations: 0 ppm, 2 ppm, 4 ppm, and 6 ppm.
The results showed that the addition of NAA had a significant effect on the
parameters of apical bud height, while the addition of BAP had no significant effect
on all parameters. The interaction of the addition of NAA and BAP had a significant
effect on the total number of buds and the age of bud emergence, while the effect
was not significant on all other observed parameters. | en_US |
