Peran Keluarga Dalam Mendukung Kesejahteraan Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) Di SLB Kasih Ibu Kecamatan Dolok Masihul

Abstract

Children with special needs often face various challenges that require extra attention and support from the family. This study aims to determine the role of the family in supporting the welfare of children with special needs in SLB Kasih Ibu, Dolok Masihul District. The research method is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection through interviews, observation and documentation. The research informants consisted of 9 research informants. The results showed the role of families in improving the welfare of children with disabilities through several main aspects, namely family resilience which includes physical, social and psychological resilience; informational, emotional, educational support and daily assistance; good family relationships with effective communication and positive reinforcement; providing personal support and lack of community capacity in serving children with disabilities. The welfare of children with disabilities is fulfilled by the basic needs, care, nurturing and guidance of their families. Families also play a role in meeting the basic needs of children with disabilities and protecting them from violence, discrimination and unfair treatment, creating a safe environment that supports the optimal development of children with disabilities.
