Background: Figurative language refers to expressions that deviate from their literal meanings to create vivid or imaginative descriptions. It is often used in literature and media to express emotions, ideas, and messages more creatively. Objective: This paper aims to identify the types and functions of figurative language used in the animated film Orion and the Dark. Method: The writer used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by watching the film and identifying figurative language in the characters' dialogue and narration. The types and functions were analyzed based on the theory of Gorys Keraf (2010). Results: The findings show that the film contains four types of figurative language: simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. Each type is used to beautify the language, express emotion, create imagination, and deliver meaning effectively. Figurative language also helps bring the story and characters to life. Conclusion: Figurative language in Orion and the Dark plays an important role in enhancing the film’s emotional and artistic value. It makes the dialogue more expressive and meaningful for the audience.en_US
