Making of Handbody Cream from Ethanol Extract of Kemuning Leaves(Murraya paniculata L.Jack) with Antioxidant Test Using DPPH Method and Toxicity Test
Abstract
Handbody cream is a skin care product in the form of cream that is used to moisturize and care for the body skin, including hands, feet, and other body parts. The leaves of Kemuning contain several alkaloid compounds that have the potential as antioxidants capable of inhibiting free radicals on the skin. This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract of Kemuning leaves (Muraya panicula L.Jack) has the potential as an antioxidant to inhibit the development of free radicals after being formulated as handbody cream. The preparation of the ethanol extract of Kemuning leaves was carried out using the maceration method with a solvent of 96% ethanol. The antioxidant test was conducted using the DPPH method to determine antioxidant activity and toxicity tests on artemia salina larvae. The formulation of handbody cream preparations with concentrations of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% ethanol extract of Kemuning leaves. The results of this study indicate that the handbody cream preparation.
