    Abstract
This research aims to describe the reception of USU Indonesian Literature Study Program students from the 2024 cohort towards the novel "Hujan Bulan Juni" by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The approach in this research is literary sociology using literary reception theory because the reader is one of the essential elements that cannot be removed from a literary work. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method applied to data consisting of interview results from ten informants. The research findings consist of two components: the reader's non-aesthetic horizon of expectations, which includes three aspects: the temporal horizon, the textual horizon, and the authorial horizon. The subsequent component is the aesthetic horizon of expectations, which encompasses the structural elements that constitute a literary work. Based on these two components, students' expectations regarding the novel Hujan Bulan Juni are influenced by the historical context, such as stories that are relevant to the present time. The horizon of the manuscript is like a novel that has been adapted into a novel with the same title. The authorial horizon, which concerns the reputation of the author already wellknown in the literary world, as well as the students' reception of the novel's intrinsic elements, reflects an understanding and appreciation relevant to the realities of multicultural society.
