Sekolah Eco Deli - Merancang Sekolah Alam di Deli Tua dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biofilik
Deli Eco School - Designing A Nature School in Deli Tua with A Biophilic Architectural Approach
Abstract
Education is essential for shaping children's character and potential for the future. Therefore, the learning environment must be more than just functional; it must offer an extraordinary experience that includes harmonious interaction with nature, maximum comfort, and a motivating learning process. To achieve this goal, school design needs to be specifically tailored to enhance the learning experience of students. This report presents a nature-based school design for kindergarten and elementary school levels in Deli Tua, which applies the principles of biophilic architecture. These principles emphasize the integration of natural elements and aspects into buildings, with the aim of improving students' health, well-being, and cognitive abilities. The application of biophilic architecture is realized by creating spaces connected to nature. This includes maximizing natural lighting and ventilation, using environmentally friendly and local materials, and incorporating natural elements such as plants, water, and open spaces into the design. In this way, the design not only considers the physical structure of the building but also focuses on developing spaces that support children's growth as a whole, enhancing creativity, concentration, and emotional well-being through direct interaction with nature. It is hoped that this nature-based school will serve as a model of educational innovation in Indonesia, utilizing the natural environment as part of the learning experience through intuitive architectural design, and making a significant contribution to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
