Keanekaragaman Famili Dipterocarpaceae Di Stasiun Penelitian Sikundur
Diversity of the Dipterocarpaceae Family at the Sikundur Station Research
Abstract
This research aims to identify and analyze the vegetation diversity of the Dipterocarpaceae family at the Sikundur Research Station, located within the Leuser Ecosystem Area. The study employed an exploratory survey method using purposive sampling across four different landforms: hills, valleys, swamps, and riverbanks. A total of 40 observation plots were established, each measuring 20 × 20 meters for tree-level and 10 × 10 meters for pole-level individuals.), Shannon- Wiener Diversity Index (H'), Evenness Index (E), Dominance Index (D), and Margalef’s Species Richness Index (Ri). The results identified 10 Dipterocarpaceae species belonging to four major genera. The Shannon-Wiener index value of 1.96 indicates a moderate level of diversity. The evenness index was high (E = 0.85), the dominance index was low (D = 0.18), and species richness was classified as low (Ri = 1.75). These findings suggest a relatively stable plant community structure, although still influenced by previous disturbances such as logging. The study contributes valuable baseline data for future conservation and rehabilitation strategies in lowland tropical forest ecosystems in Sumatra
