The Relationship Of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice with The Incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease in Patients Aged 18-45 Years at Medan Hajj Hospital in 2025
Abstract
Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a non-communicable disease characterized by a gradual and permanent decline in kidney function. Based on WHO data (2020 and 2021), the prevalence of CKD in the world reached 10.68%, with the number of deaths reaching 254,028 cases in 2020 and CFR of 14.19%. In Indonesia, the prevalence of GGK has increased significantly, showing an increase in the prevalence of GGK to 3.8% in 2018. In Medan Hajj Hospital, there is an increase in cases of GGK every year with most patients being in the productive age range, which has the potential to reduce the quality of life and productivity of individuals in society. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, actions, and disease history, with the incidence of GGK in patients aged 18-45 years at the Medan Hajj Hospital in 2025. This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 118 people, who were selected using accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire at RS Haji Medan. The results of bivariate analysis using the chi-square test showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p<0.010), attitude (p<0.003), action (p<0.015) and disease history (p<0.010) with the incidence of GGK. Insufficient knowledge about the risk factors and prevention of GGK, attitudes that do not support a healthy lifestyle, actions that are not in accordance with medical recommendations, and a history of disease lead to an increase in the incidence of GGK among patients of productive age. The results of this study are expected to increase promotive and preventive efforts towards the community, especially the productive age group, regarding the importance of prevention and early detection of GGK.
