The Human Development Index (HDI) is an important indicator for measuring success in efforts to build the quality of human life (society or population). The Human Development Index (HDI) can determine the ranking or level of \development of a region or country. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence between independent variables on the dependent variable. Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency website and the object of this study was Medan City. In this study, the independent variables used were Life Expectancy, Average Years of Schooling, Economic Growth and Open Unemployment Rate, while the dependent variable used in this study was the Human Development Index. The data were processed using multiple linear regression analysis methods. After the data were processed, the regression equation was obtained: Y = 0,134 +0,400X1 + 4,476X2 +0,003X3 + 0,059X4. After obtaining the regression equation, a simultaneous test was conducted, which obtained F-count (106.439) > F=table (4.76), indicating that the independent variables simultaneously influence the dependent variable. A partial test (T-test) found that the Average Years of Schooling variable significantly influenced the Human Development Index variable, while the Life Expectancy, Economic Growth, and Open Unemployment Rate variables did not significantly influence the Human Development Index variable.
