Perilaku Sosial Anak dari Keluarga Broken Home di Kampung Aur, Kelurahan Aur, Kota Medan (Studi Kasus 5 Anak Keluarga Broken Home)
Social Behavior of Children from Broken Home Families in Kampung Aur, Kelurahan Aur, Kota Medan (Case Study of 5 Children from Broken Home Families)
Abstract
The family is the first environment that shapes a child's personality and social
behavior. However, in broken home families, emotional stability and parenting
patterns are often disrupted due to divorce or the absence of one parent. These
conditions can affect the process of forming children's social behavior in everyday
life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the social behavior of children from
broken home families in Kampung Aur, Aur Village, Medan City. This research uses
a qualitative approach with a case study type. The main informants consisted of five
children from broken home families who were selected through the snowball
technique. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-
depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively
qualitatively. The results showed that children's social behavior had not developed
ideally in most indicators. Based on the eight indicators studied, namely
cooperation, sharing, competition, empathy, sympathy, imitation, social support,
and social acceptance, it was found that children experienced various limitations
in establishing healthy social interactions. The main factors influencing this
condition include inconsistent parenting, lack of emotional support, and a less
supportive social environment. This study recommends the importance of active
involvement from parents, guardians, and the social environment in shaping and
fostering children's social behavior in a sustainable manner.
