dc.description.abstractThis thesis is titled Jabu Bolon Ompung Gumata Sidabalok: A Semiotic Study. It aims to describe the symbols found in Jabu Bolon Ompung Gumata Sidabalok, as well as the functions and meanings of those symbols. The writer employs a qualitative descriptive research method, with data collected through field observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used to analyze the research findings is semiotic theory, specifically the concept of symbols as proposed by Charles Peirce. The research location is in Desa Simanindo Sangkal, Simanindo Subdistrict, Samosir Regency. The research findings include: 15 types of gorga ornaments, 18 symbolic functions, and 15 symbolic meanings, which consist of denotative and connotative meanings.en_US
