Medan City, as one of the major cities in Indonesia with a tropical climate
has a fairly dense population where workers are not only men but also
women, the design of a women-only spa and fitness center in Medan City
is based on one of the author's desire to care about the mental and
physical health of women in Medan City. Strenuous tasks and heavy
workloads, coupled with insufficient physical activity, can lead to fatigue
and reduced vitality, which adversely affect health. This is especially true
for women who participate in many activities. Many women today are not
only housewives, but also engage in additional work, for example, female
students who work part-time during their college years for various reasons
or backgrounds. These excessive activities easily trigger stress in each
woman. The design concept of a spa and fitness facility in Medan Selayang
sub-district aims to provide a place for exercise and fitness training for the
female population in Medan. Therefore, with this design concept, it is
expected that the female population in Medan can use a sports and spa
facility designed with a tropical architecture approach, which has the
principle of adjusting and solving tropical climate problems by applying
tropical architecture concepts to the designed building.
