ABSTRACT

Background: Animated films not only provide entertainment, but also a strong educational tool through character building. Finding Nemo is one of the animated films that features a father character named Marlin, who stands out for his protective nature and struggle to find his lost son. Marlin's character is interesting to analyze because it shows a complex emotional development: from an anxious and overly cautious figure to a person who is more courageous and open to change. The analysis of Marlin's character can provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics of parental roles, the value of love, and emotional learning in animated films. Purpose:Describe Marlin's character as the main character in Finding Nemo and analyze Marlin's character development throughout the storyline. Methods: This research uses descriptive qualitative method with narrative and psychological analysis approach. Results:Anxious and protective of his child, as a result of past trauma. Affectionate, which drives him to travel long distances and danger.Experiences character development, from fear of loss to trusting and supporting his child's independence.Through interactions with characters like Dory, Marlin learns the importance of courage, trust, and hope. Conclusion:Marlin as the main character in Finding Nemo is a representation of a loving father, but overshadowed by the fear of loss. His journey to find Nemo becomes a process of emotional transformation and important learning about trust, sacrifice, and personal growth.
