Pembuatan Metil Oleat dari Esterifikasi Asam Oleat dengan Metanol pada Perbandingan Waktu Reaksi dan Kecepatan Pengadukan Peralatan Pendispersi Homogen
Production of Methyl Oleate from Esterification of Oleic Acid with Methanol in the Comparison of Reaction Time and Stirring Speed of Homogeneous Dispersion Equipment
Abstract
The production of methyl oleate from oleic acid and methanol has been carried out through esterification reaction using lipase enzyme as a catalyst and homogenizer stirring. The parameters studied in this study were reaction time with variations of 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 minutes and stirring speed with variations of 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 rpm. Determination of the conversion of methyl
oleate was carried out by alkalimetric titration. The obtained methyl oleate was analyzed using FT-IR spectrophotometer and GC. The maximum conversion of methyl oleate for the reaction time parameters was obtained at 98.0 ± 0.7% at a time of 10 minutes, a homogenizer stirring speed of 3000 rpm, a mole ratio of 1: 3 and a catalyst weight of 25%. And for the maximum conversion of methyl oleate for the stirring speed parameter obtained 98.9 ± 0.5% at a stirring speed of 6000 rpm, time 1 minute, mole ratio 1:3 and catalyst weight 25%. The formation of ester groups in methyl oleate is marked by the appearance of an absorption peak at a wave number of 1744.3 cm-1 which indicates the stretching vibration of the -C=O methyl ester group and is supported by the presence of an absorption band of the stretching vibration of the -C-O-C- ester group at a wave of 1244.9-1170.3 cm-1 and the results of methyl oleate gas chromatography analysis showed that the conversion of methyl ester reached 97.20%.
