This study aims to analyze the role of hardiness on self-regulated learning in students at SMP-IT Hikmatul Fadhillah Medan. Hardiness as a personality that consists of commitment, control, and challenge is thought to be an important factor in shaping students' ability to regulate themselves in the learning process. The sample in this study amounted to 169 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using self-regulated learning scale (Zimmerman, 1989) and hardiness scale (Maddi, 2006). The results showed that hardiness contributed to self-regulated learning with a significance value of p = 0.001 (<0.05). Hardiness contributed 35.7% to self-regulated learning. This finding proves that students with a high level of hardiness tend to have better self-regulated learning. Thus, strengthening hardiness and self regulated learning by schools and parents is very important in supporting students' learning process.en_US
