This study examines the partuturon system in Toba Batak society, which functions as an ego-control and a tool for regulating social relationships based on the Dalihan Na Tolu kinship structure. Partuturon is not only a kinship address system but also a guideline for ethical communication and behavior that guides individuals in positioning themselves appropriately within the Toba Batak socio-cultural structure. This research used a qualitative approach with case study methods and participant observation, conducted in the East Medan District, Medan City. The results show that partuturon controls individual egos through the use of greetings that align with kinship positions, thereby minimizing potential conflict and maintaining social harmony. Factors such as clan, the Dalihan Na Tolu structure (hula-hula, dongan tubu, and boru), and collective understanding of customary norms also influence the internalization of partuturon as a binding social system. Thus, partuturon serves as a cultural instrument that maintains balance and harmony in Toba Batak social interactions.en_US
