Dysphemism In Agricultural Environment Discourse In Online Mass Media : Critical Ecolinguistic
Abstract
Online media is a media that contains a variety of information and news. In delivering the news, of course, the use of language is very concerned, online mass media uses various language tools in delivering the news, such as euphemism and dysphemism. According to Allan and Burridge (1991: 26-28), dysphemisms are expressions with connotations that are painful for those spoken to and those listening, so that these expressions are usually replaced with expressions that are more neutral or more euphemistic. This research was conducted with the aim of describing the form and function of dysphemism in the discourse of agricultural environment in online mass media. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. In analyzing the data, this research uses the commensurate method with the same comparative relationship technique and the agih method with the replace technique. The results of this study show that the form of dysphemism in the discourse of agricultural environment in online mass media consists of dysphemism in the form of words, phrases and clauses. The functions of dysphemism in the discourse of agricultural environment in online mass media are showing dislike, accusing or blaming, complaining, warning, expressing anger or irritation, conveying information, satirizing, and criticizing.
