This research examines internal conflict using a qualitative approach with a descriptive nature. Internal conflict is a conflict that occurs in the heart and mind, within the soul of a story's character. In the novel "Surat-Surat yang Tak Pernah Dikirim" (Letters That Were Never Sent), there is an internal conflict experienced by the character Sylvia in her obsession with losing weight, which affects her physical and mental health. This research aims to describe the forms of internal conflict and identify the factors causing internal conflict in the main character of the novel "Surat-Surat yang Tak Pernah Dikirim" by Miranda Malonka. To achieve this goal, the author analyzes the novel using literary psychology theory. To support the research, this study uses Kurt Lewin's and Stanton's theories in Nurgiyantoro. The problem in this thesis is limited to analyzing the internal conflict of the main character and the causes of internal conflict in the novel. The benefits of this research are to enrich the study and appreciation of literary works in Indonesia, helping readers understand the forms of internal conflict in the main character of the novel. From the research results, the forms of internal conflict in the main character can be obtained through approach-approach conflict, avoidance-avoidance conflict, and approach-avoidance conflict. Furthermore, there are two factors causing internal conflict in the main character, namely internal factors and external factors. However, among the three types, approach-avoidance conflict is the most prominent. Sylvia is depicted as a stubborn girl who finds it difficult to accept others' opinions, and the internal factor causing conflict is due to her lack of self-confidence, as well as external factors from the attitudes of those close to her, leading to internal conflict.en_US
