    Abstract
The narrative structure plays a vital role in building the story so that it can reach the reader. This research is conducted with the aim of describing and comparing the similarities and differences in the narrative structure found in the novels Kamu Cerita yang Tidak Perlu Dipercaya by Sabda Armandio and Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. The narrative structure is analyzed using Gerard Genette's narrative structure theory, which includes order, duration, frequency, mood, and voice. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research. The results show that there are similarities in the narrative structure of both novels. The similarities in narrative structure in both novels are found in order, duration, frequency, mood, and voice. The order is found in the form of an anachronic analepsis in both novels. The duration in both novels includes pause, scene, and summary. The frequency in both novels includes singulative representation, anaphoric representation, repetitive representation, and iterative representation. The mood in both novels has a narrator who is inside the story, with the narrator as a character in the story and internal focalization. Both novels exhibit similar narrative voices in terms of time of narrating, person, and narrative level. The difference in narrative structure lies in the order and voice. The order in Kamu Cerita yang Tidak Perlu Dipercaya includes both anachronic analepsis and anachrony, whereas Norwegian Wood only has an anachronic order. The difference in narrative voice is found in the time of narrating. The time of narrating in Kamu Cerita yang Tidak Perlu Dipercaya includes both subsequent and simultaneous, while Norwegian Wood only has subsequent time of narrating.
