Women Intelligence In Hidden Figures Novel : Feminist Stylistic Analysis

Abstract

This thesis, titled "Women Intelligence in Hidden Figures Novel : Feminist Stylistic Analysis," explores level analysis in the Hidden Figures novel reflect women’s intelligence and feminism. The study aims to quantify and analyze level analysis in the Hidden Figurers novel reflect women’s intelligence and feminism. The data of this study consist of selected linguistic expressions, sentences, and discourses found in Hidden Figures Novel. Then finding show that At the word level, elements like generic pronouns (15 data, 6.6%) reveal gender bias while showing women’s resilience. At the sentence level, presupposition and inference (17 data, 7.5%) challenge societal assumptions to highlight women’s authority. At the discourse level, focalization (16 data, 7.0%) center female perspectives. To answer the third research problem, Feminist Stylistic Analysis theory by Sara Mills is used. Overall, the study shows that linguistic features at all levels work together to support feminist values by resisting gender stereotypes and validating women’s agency and intellect.
