Drug abuse is a serious problem in Indonesia, especially in Medan
City and North Sumatra Province. Unfortunately, existing
rehabilitation centers in Medan are not able to accommodate the
increasing number of drug abuse victims. Therefore, there is a need
for a rehabilitation center that can respond effectively to users’
behavioral needs. This research aims to identify and describe the
behavioral aspects involved in the healing process within
rehabilitation facilities. The study uses a design research method
with a case study approach, focusing on several rehabilitation
centers that apply behavioral architecture principles. Key behavioral
aspects identified include spatial layout, size and shape, furniture
arrangement, color, sound, lighting, and temperature. The proposed
Drug Rehabilitation Center in Medan is designed using a behavioral
architecture approach to create a safe, comfortable, and healing
focused environment. The goal is to support positive behavioral
change through spatial design that meets both the physical and
psychological needs of patients.
