| dc.description.abstract | The study aim of this research is to analyze the horticultural commodity base in Karo Regency, to analyze the sub-districts which are the basis of horticultural commodities in Karo Regency, to analyze the characteristics of the distribution of horticultural commodities based on the principle of localization in Karo Regency, and to analyze the characteristics of the distribution of horticultural commodities based on the principle of specialization in Karo Regency. The analytical methods used in this study are Location Quotient (LQ), localization coefficient, and specialization coefficient. The results of the study show that the plants which are the basis of horticultural commodities in Karo Regency are Tomato, Cabbage, Potato, Chinese Cabbage, Carrot, Orange, Chrysanthemum, and Rose. The sub-district that is the base for horticultural crops for tomatoes is in Merek Sub-district. Cabbage is in Simpang Empat Sub-district and Naman Teran Sub-district. Potatoes are in Simpang Empat Sub-district, Naman Teran Sub-district, Merdeka Sub-district, Kabanjahe Sub-district, and Merek Sub-district. Chinese Cabbage is in Simpang Empat Sub-district, Naman Teran Sub-district, Merdeka Sub-district, Kabanjahe Sub-district, Merek Sub-district, and Barusjahe Sub-district. Carrots are in Simpang Empat Sub-district and Barusjahe Sub-district. There is no sub-district that is the base for orange crops. Berastagi Sub-district is the base for chrysanthemum and rose crops. The characteristics of the distribution of horticultural commodities in Karo Regency based on the principle of localization are as follows: Tomatoes are localized in Kabanjahe District, Merek District, and Barusjahe District. Cabbage is localized in Simpang Empat District, Naman Teran District, and Merek District. Potatoes are localized in Simpang Empat District, Naman Teran District, Merdeka District, Kabanjahe District, and Merek District. Chinese Cabbage is localized in Simpang Empat District, Naman Teran District, and Merdeka District. As for carrots, oranges, chrysanthemums, and roses, they are not localized or are still spreading in several districts. The characteristics of the distribution of horticultural commodities in Karo Regency based on the principle of specialization are non-specialized because there are no sub-districts in Karo Regency whose agricultural activities are specialized in horticultural commodities. | en_US |
