Pengaruh Beberapa Media Tanam dan Lama Perendaman GA3 terhadap Pertumbuhan Bulbil Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus Prain)
Effect of Several Planting Media and Immersion Duration of GA3 on the Growth of Bulbil Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus Prain)
Abstract
Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus Prain) is an agricultural crop whose economic value has the potential to continue to increase, but due to continuous land use the availability of top soil is very limited, therefore there is a need for alternatives that can replace the function of top soil as a growing medium, one alternative that can be used is the use of subsoil. Although less fertile, subsoil fertility can be increased by using soil amendments such as husk charcoal. This research aims to determine the effect of planting media and gibberellic acid on the growth of porang bulbils. This research was conducted at the land of the Center for Tuber Studies, Faculty of Agriculture, USU, Medan, North Sumatra with an altitude of ± 32 meters above sea level from February 2025 to May 2025. This study used a Factorial Randomized Complite Block Design (RCBD) consisting of 2 treatment factors with 3 replication. The first factor is the provision of planting media sub soil and husk charcoal (100% sub soil, 75% sub soil 25% husk charcoal, 50% sub soil 50% husk charcoal). The second factor is the length of gibberellic acid immersion (0, 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours). The results showed that the provision of planting media had a significant effect on the percentage of growth, leaf exit age, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, crown and root fresh weight, crown and root dry weight, and the number of bulbils. Gibberellic acid application had no significant effect on all observed parameters. The interaction of planting media 75% sub soil 25% husk charcoal and 6 hours of soaking with gibberellic acid had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, root fresh weight, root dry weight and number of bulbils.
