Penyetingan Relai Frekuensi Kurang (Under Frequency Relay) terhadap Pelepasan Beban (Load Shedding) dengan Pengaruh Beban Lebih dan Kurangnya Daya di PT.INALUM (Persero)
Setting the Under Frequency Relay for Load Shedding with the Effect of Overload and Lack of Power at PT. INALUM (Persero)
Abstract
An imbalance between increasing electrical load and supply capacity can lead to a decrease in system frequency, posing a risk to power system stability. This study aims to analyze the system response to load shedding using under frequency relay (UFR) at PT. Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero) through simulations conducted using ETAP 19.0.1 software. Seven load shedding schemes were configured based on different frequency threshold values and time delays to evaluate their effectiveness. The simulation results demonstrate that the application of UFR in a gradual and coordinated manner can effectively restore system frequency. Specifically, the UFR set at 48.5 Hz with a 0.24 second time delay successfully disconnected the PLN supply, while other UFR operated in sequence according to the frequency drop down to 43 Hz. The implementation of this scheme maintained system stability by minimizing the amount of load shed and preventing a complete blackout. This research highlights the importance of proper frequency threshold settings and load shedding scheduling in maintaining power system frequency stability.
