Dampak Keberadaan Perkebunan Swasta Kelapa Sawit PT. Sinar Mas Group Terhadap Kesejahteraan Ekonomi dan Sosial Masyarakat ( Studi Kasus : Desa Pulo Dogom, Kecamatan Kualuh Hulu, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Utara)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the presence of the private oil palm plantation company, PT. Sinar Mas Group, on the social and economic welfare of the community in Pulo Dogom Village, Kualuh Hulu Subdistrict, North Labuhanbatu Regency. The research is motivated by the expansion of the oil palm industry, which brings both positive and negative impacts to surrounding communities. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach through surveys. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires from 74 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results show that the presence of PT. Sinar Mas Group has contributed positively by increasing employment opportunities, income, infrastructure development, and access to education. However, negative impacts were also identified, such as social conflict, a decline in communal cooperation traditions, and growing social inequality. Overall, the company’s presence significantly affects the social and economic welfare of the local community, although special attention should be given to the shifting socio-cultural dynamics.
