Medan's industrial estate is experiencing rapid growth, which has led to an increase in the need for housing for factory workers. Flats are a solution that is widely implemented by the government, but often does not take into account the behavior and needs of residents. As a result, residents modify the space independently which has the potential to damage the building structure and reduce the quality of housing. This research aims to design rental fl ats for factory workers in the Medan industrial area with a behavioral architecture approach, so that it can create a more adaptive, comfortable, and supportive housing for the welfare of its residents. The research methods used are literature studies, analysis of the behavior of existing fl ats, and behavioral architecture-based design approaches. The results of the study show that fl ats that consider space flexibility, adequate communal space, and design that is in accordance with the activity patterns of residents can improve the comfort and quality of life of factory workers. By applying behavioral architectural principles, rental fl ats can better suit the social and economic needs of residents, as well as prevent uncontrolled modification of space. This research is expected to be a reference in the development of vertical housing for factory workers in industrial estates, so as to not only provide housing, but also create an environment that supports the social and psychological welfare of residents.en_US
