This study examines the adaptation of local culture in the activities of religious institutions with a focus on the implementation of the Kerja Rani tradition in activities at the Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP) Runggun Durian Tinggung, STM Hulu District, Deli Serdang Regency. This study aims to understand how the local cultural adaptation of the Kerja Rani tradition in the activities of religious institutions in GBKP Runggun Durian Tinggung. Kerja Rani is a local cultural ceremony that is reframing in the activities of religious institutions. In its implementation, this tradition still maintains elements of art and culture of the Karo tribe. This tradition plays a significant role in maintaining the identity and values of the Karo ethnic group and strengthening social ties within Karo society. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach, by interviewing 12 informants aged 25-60 years who participated in Kerja Rani to gather insights into their experiences and perceptions related to Kerja Rani traditions. The data refers to the Concept of Cultural Transformation and Adaptation to explain how local cultures adapt and develop in the context of religious activities. In this study, various views and meanings about Kerja Rani were obtained from religious, cultural, and social aspects. The differences and similarities in the meaning of culture in the Karo community show that there are variations in social actions in the process of cultural introduction, which ultimately results in a different meaning of each of these actions.
