Peran Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Muara Tanjung Dalam Meningkatkan Ekonomi Masyarakat di Gampong Tanjung Minjei, Kecamatan Madat, Kabupaten Aceh Timur

Abstract

Cooperatives are people based economic institutions that not only focus on financial profit but also carry a social mission to promote empowerment and self- reliance, particularly in rural areas. This study aims to describe the role of the Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Muara Tanjung in improving the local economy of Tanjung Minjei Village, Madat Subdistrict, East Aceh Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants consisting of cooperative administrators, members, and local beneficiaries. The results show that KSU Muara Tanjung performs four main roles: increasing community income through collective business activities, serving as a medium for economic education and training, strengthening the culture of mutual cooperation and social solidarity, and developing local product innovations such as Bandeng Tanpa Duri (Boneless Milkfish). The cooperative functions not only as an economic unit but also as a social agent that bridges access to resources, enhances community participation, and promotes inclusive and sustainable local economic transformation.
