Pengaruh Level Pemberian POC Air Kelapa (Cocos nucifera L.) Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Fodder Jagung (Zea mays L.) Sebagai Hijauan Pakan Ternak
Effect of Coconut Water POC (Cocos nucifera L.) Administration Level on Corn Fodder (Zea mays L.) Growth and Production as Animal Feed
Abstract
One of the most important factors determining the success and sustainability of agriculture in Indonesia is the availability of cheap feed resources that have good nutritional quality. The use of hydroponic fodder, which is forage/feed livestock cultivated hydroponically, can be a solution. This study aims to determine the effect of different applications of coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.) POC on the growth and production of corn fodder. This research was conducted at the Research and Technology Laboratory, Greenhouse Laboratory, and Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera. This research was conducted from April to June 2023. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were P0 (without treatment/control), P1 (250 ml of coconut water POC), P2 (addition of 350 ml of coconut water POC), and P3 (addition of 450 ml of coconut water POC). The results showed that the best average for each parameter was 95.26% germination power at P2, fresh weight of 11.11 kg/m2, crude protein of 10.36%, crude fat of 9.02%, ash content of 15.35%, while crude fiber at P0 was 15.35%. The application of different levels of coconut water POC (Cocos nucifera L.) had a significant effect on fresh weight, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and ash content, but did not significantly affect the germination power of corn fodder (Zea mays L.).
