Nitrite is a dangerous substance contained in drinking water. The objective of this analysis is to determine the Nitrite (NO2-) content analyzed at the UPT. North Sumatra Provincial Health Laboratory. Data were taken from various different drinking sources. Analysis of Nitrite (NO2-) content using the Spectrophotometry (UV Vis) method. The results showed significant variations in the concentration of these parameters, reflecting the complexity of the drinking water consumed. Samples were taken from several locations in certain villages in North Sumatra and then codes were used as each label of the sample. Determination of nitrite levels was carried out according to the spectrophotometric method in accordance with the procedures and uv visible spectrophotometer tools used at the UPT. North Sumatra Provincial Health Laboratory. The analysis results were obtained on the AM (Drinking Water) sample solution with code 0004 AM (Drinking Water) label with a concentration value of 0006 mg/L, code 0006 AM (Drinking Water) label with a concentration value of 0008 mg/L, 0007 AM (Drinking Water) label with a concentration value of 0012 mg/L, and 0018 AM (Drinking Water) label with a concentration value of 0010 mg/L. While for the sample solution with code 0019 AM (Drinking Water) label, the concentration cannot be detected or Not In Valid Range. Based on the data from the analysis results, it can be concluded that the nitrite (NO2-) content in the sample code solutions 0004, 0006, 0007 and 0018 contains a lower concentration of nitrite than the regulations that have been established and meets the maximum limit requirements for nitrite content in drinking water. However, the concentration of the sample solution with code 0019 labeled AM (Drinking Water) could not be detected. The reason refers to the very high probability that the sample solution does not contain nitrite.en_US
