Workers of PT Sabaritha Perkasa Abadi who are engaged in construction in the
manufacture of hotmix asphalt. During the initial survey, it was found that workers
were still less compliant in applying the SOP correctly, namely not wearing
complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working. Awareness and
compliance with the use of PPE is very important to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every worker involved in the paving process. The importance of workers'
compliance with PPE helps to understand that this action is not just an obligation,
but a vital step in protecting themselves. This study aims to determine the factors
associated with compliance with PPE use among PT Sabaritha Perkasa Abadi
workers in Kabanjahe, Karo Regency. This study used a cross-sectional
quantitative method involving 40 workers. Data collection was done through
interviews using a questionnaire. Measurement of worker compliance using
observation sheets by direct observation and variables of knowledge, attitude, and
supervision using questionnaires and variables of PPE availability using
observation sheets. The spearman rank correlation test was used to analyze the
data which showed a relationship in knowledge with a value (p-value <0.05),
attitude with a value (p-value <0.05), and supervision with a value (p-value <0.05).
From the results of the study, it was obtained that there were 16 workers (40%)
compliant in using PPE and 24 workers (60%) were not compliant in using PPE.
It is recommended that the company provide education and awareness programs
on the importance of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as
enhance supervision efforts to ensure workers consistently adhere to established
regulations and procedures, especially concerning PPE usage.
