Pengaruh Penyikatan dengan Bahan Pembersih terhadap Stabilitas Warna Gigi Artifisial Resin Akrilik yang Terpapar Asap Rokok Konvensional
The Effect of Brushing with Denture Cleanser on Color Stability of Artificial Teeth After Cigarette Smoke Exposure
Abstract
Acrylic resin artificial teeth play an important role in the aesthetics of
dentures. Exposure to cigarette smoke can stain the surface of acrylic resin. The act
of cleaning dentures provides a way to reduce stain accumulation on denture surface.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of soaking ih effervescent solution
followed by brushing with water and brushing with toothpaste on the color stability of
acrylic artificial teeth after cigarette smoke exposure. The samples used in this study
were maxillary central incisor acrylic resin artificial teeth embedded on
heat-polymerized acrylic resin plates. The samples were divided into three groups
based on the cleaning procedure (n=10). Each sample was exposed to kretek cigarette
smoke, followed by either soaking in effervescent solution followed by brushing with
water, or toothbrushing with either distilled water or toothpaste.
