Analisis Bilangan Yodium (Iodine Value) Pada Sampel Fatty Acid Binding Hydrolisis (Fabh) dengan Metode Wijs di Laboratorium PT. Soci Mas Medan
Analysis Of (Iodine Value) in Fatty Acid Binding Hydrolisis (Fabh) Sample Using The Wijs Method In The Laboratory of PT. Soci Mas Medan
Abstract
Fatty Acid Binding Hydrolysis (FABH) is one of the most widely produced products in the oleochemical industry. The quality of FABH samples can be determined using iodine number parameters. This study aims to analyze the iodine number levels in the samples that have been tested at the PT Soci Mas Medan Laboratory and ascertain whether these levels meet the applicable quality standards. Iodine number testing is carried out with the principle of determining the amount of iodine that will be bound by 100 grams of oil or fat as a parameter to assess the level of unsaturation of the oil or fat. The method used in this research is the Wijs method. The results showed that the iodine number levels in the FABH samples were 0.348 g I2/100g, 0.357 g I2/100g, and 0.344 g I2/100g. Based on AOCS Official Method Tg 1-64, which regulates the specification of iodine number content in fat or oil samples, the iodine number values obtained are in accordance with the established standard, which is a maximum of 0.8 g I2/100g. Factors that influence the variation of these values include the source of raw materials, processing methods, and storage. Based on the results of this test, FABH samples at PT Soci Mas Medan have met the quality requirements set by the government.
