Safe drinking water is a basic human need and an important indicator of public health. However, heavy metal contamination such as arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and lead (Pb) in drinking water can pose serious health risks. This study aims to analyze the levels of heavy metals As, Cd, Cr, and Pb in drinking water samples from various regions in North Sumatra Province using Induceively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The ICP-MS method was chosen because it has high sensitivity, low detection limits, and the ability to analyze multiple elements simultaneously. Testing was carried out at the Regional Health Laboratory of North Sumatra Province by following the standard procedure for validation of analytical methods. From the As metal analysis of drinking water samples using ICP-MS, the As metal content was 0.129 ppb, in the Cd metal analysis of drinking water samples using ICP-MS the Cd metal content was 0.002 ppb, in the Cr metal analysis of drinking water samples using ICP-MS the Cr metal content was 0.206 ppb, and in the Pb metal analysis of drinking water samples using ICP-MS the Pb metal content was 0.059 ppb. The levels of As, Cd, Cr, and Pb metals contained in the test samples were declared to meet the requirements according to PermenKes No. 2 of 2023 with a threshold of 0.01 mg/L.en_US
