    Abstract
Synthesis of 2-Etilhexyl Decanoate from decanoic acid and 2-ethylhexanol by esterification reaction with lipase enzyme catalyst using microwave has been conducted. The parameters studied in this study were the effect of reaction time and microwave power from decanoic acid to 2-ethylhexanol. Confirmation of the formation of 2-ethylhexyl decanoate was done using FT-IR spectrophotometer and GC-MS while the conversion was determined by alkalimetric titration. The formation of ester groups from the resulting 2-ethylhexyl decanoate was characterized by a peak at wave number 1714,6 cm-1 showing stretching vibrations of carbonyl groups (C=O) indicating the presence of esters and supported by the formation of -C-O-C- ester stretching vibrations at wave number 1036,2 cm-1. GC-MS spectrum showed typical fragmentation pattern of 2-ethylhexyl decanoate compound with ion peak at m/z 284 indicating molecular weight of 2-ethylhexyl decanoate and base peak at m/z 57. The maximum conversion of 2-ethylhexyl decanoate for reaction time parameter of 98.04% ± 0.77 was obtained at reaction time of 1 minute, molar ratio of 1:3, catalyst weight of 1%, with microwave power of 20 watts. While for the microwave power parameter, the maximum conversion of 97.16 ± 0.42 was obtained at a power of 20 watts, a molar ratio of 1:3, a catalyst weight of 1%, and a reaction time of 1 minute.
