    Abstract
Climate change and environmental regulations encourage the air conditioning sector to replace refrigerants with more environmentally friendly ones such as propane (R290), so increasing their efficiency is very important. This research intends to build and evaluate a ½ PK Split Air Conditioner (AC) system combined with a Liquid Suction Heat Exchanger (LSHE) to improve Coefficient of Performance (COP) and energy efficiency. This research uses vapor compression cycle modeling to design and analyze the performance of a fluted tube in liquid tube type LSHE using copper pipes. Evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, and LSHE geometry are some of the design characteristics examined to determine how they affect compressor power consumption and COP. The findings of the analysis show that the system performance is much improved with the incorporation of the LSHE. At ideal operating conditions, the LSHE system improved the COP by 26,3% (from 4.488 to 5.666) and reduced the compressor power usage by 20,8% (from 0.279 kW to 0.221 kW) compared to the standard system. The effective length of the LSHE pipe is 0.18 m, the length of the fluted tube is 0.23 m, and the length of the liquid tube is 0.18 m. The ideal LSHE design for this system has a heat transfer effectiveness of about 25,25%.
