BRICS is an international organization established in 2009 for the purpose of cooperation between countries in the fields of economics and geopolitics. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with secondary data collection through electronic reports such as articles, government websites, foreign media, journals, biographies, regulations and other printed sources related to BRICS. The theory used in this study is the theory of International Organization, National Interest and International Cooperation. The results of this study explain that Indonesia's joining BRICS can provide Indonesia with the opportunity to obtain funding from the New Development Bank (NDB) with an estimated total budget of 45,000 trillion rupiah for the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) in infrastructure development. The total value of FDI realization (Foreign Direct Investment) of BRICS countries reached 97.46 trillion rupiah in 2024 with a total of 20,259 projects, this has the potential to increase foreign investment and the amount of investment from BRICS countries into the Indonesian economic sector. In addition, Indonesia's joining BRICS has the potential to increase geopolitical cooperation, especially defense, which includes joint military exercises, conducting intelligence exchanges and also cooperating in the procurement of Main Weapons System Equipment (ALUTSISTA) to modernize the Indonesian military. Indonesia's discourse that has changed to become an official member of BRICS is a strategic step, with its membership in BRICS Indonesia can take advantage of this opportunity for national interests, especially in the aspects of investment and Indonesian defense.
