dc.description.abstract | Indonesia is a country that frequently experiences earthquakes. This is due to its geological location along the Ring of Fire. Structures in Indonesia generally still use an open frame system consisting only of beams and columns, with irregular geometric shapes, particularly horizontal irregularities. This certainly affects the structural strength against earthquakes. Therefore, shear walls as a dual system-srpmk become one of the structural systems that can optimally respond to seismic forces. This study aims to compare the structural responses of regular and irregular buildings based on parameters such as the center of mass, center of rigidity, distribution of seismic forces, torsion, twist angle, displacement, story drift, and the reinforcement requirements for shear walls. The method used in this structural response analysis is the response spectrum method referring to SNI 1726:2019, with assistance from the MIDAS Gen academic version 2023 software. In this study, the structural responses of four types of structures will be compared: box type, L type, U type, and T type. The results show that the L type building is the worst among the other three types. This occurs because the L type experiences the greatest eccentricity and the lowest torsional stiffness, which triggers large torsion, twist angle, displacement, and story drift. Meanwhile, the box type is the safest structure type as it shows very good responses across all parameters. The results of this study provide important insights for the design of irregular building structures to be more earthquake-resistant. | en_US |
