dc.description.abstractThe increasing use of agricultural mechanization, and the increasing need for fossil fuels. And the depletion of fossil fuel reserves from petroleum over time. With these problems, alternative fuels from vegetable oil (biofuel) have begun to emerge, as a solution to replace diesel fuel. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel from a mixture of diesel with vegetable oil that can be more environmentally friendly. However, increasing the concentration of biodiesel in the biodiesel mixture will affect engine performance which will decrease. This is due to the calorific value and cetane number content in biodiesel which are lower than diesel, high particulate value, water content and reduced filter life in the engine. So that the addition of additives can improve the quality of fuel containing biodiesel. This study aims to test the effect of increasing biodiesel concentration (B50, B65, and B80) with the addition of eucalyptus essential oil bioadditives (0%, 0.5%, 1%) on the performance of diesel combustion engines. The test results were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with the Duncan multiple range test (DMRT). Based on the analysis of engine performance tests, the concentration of B50 biodiesel with the addition of 1% eucalyptus essential oil (K1A3) produced optimal engine performance: voltage 261.50 Volts, current 15.66 amps, power 4.214 kW, torque 19.82 Nm, fuel consumption 0.449 Liters/hour, and specific fuel consumption 0.095 Nm. However, the best value for exhaust gas emission opacity was found in the B80 biodiesel concentration with the addition of 1% eucalyptus essential oil (K3A3) of 0.32%.en_US
