Analisis Pengendalian Banjir Sungai Mencirim di Kawasan Binjai Kota
Flood Control Analysis of The Mencirim River in The Binjai City Area
Abstract
The Mencirim River is one of the rivers located in North Sumatra Province and
flows through the city of Binjai. This river is considered a flood-prone area,
particularly in the Binjai Kota District, with inundation heights ranging from 0.3 to 4 meters. This study aims to calculate the flood discharge of the Mencirim River in Binjai Kota District and to analyze flood control measures through the planning of levee heights for the coming years. The data used in this study consists of 10 years of rainfall records (2014–2023). The flood discharge calculation was carried out using the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) method, while flood modeling was conducted using HEC-RAS software version 6.6. Based on the calculation results, the design flood discharges for return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, and 50 years were obtained, with the 25-year return period (Q25) yielding a discharge of 75,067 m³/second. The analysis results indicate that the required levee height to manage flooding in the area ranges from 1 to 4 meters.
