dc.description.abstract | Language plays an important role in human life as a means of communication to convey thoughts, feelings, and information. This study focuses on the study of pragmatics, especially deixis, which includes deixis of person, place, time, social, and discourse in the film "Pendekar Awang." The method used is descriptive qualitative research with the technique of listening and noting for data collection and analytical descriptive analysis of speech containing deixis. The results of the study showed five forms of deixis: personal deixis is divided into three, namely first person deixis, second person deixis and third person deixis. First person deixis was found in 151 data, second person deixis in 56 data, and third person deixis in 27 data. While place deixis amounted to 10 data, time deixis in 4 data, social deixis in 71 data and discourse deixis in 11 data. The function of deixis explains that in person deixis it functions as a reference for people or characters in the story or refers to pronouns, either first person (speaker), second (interlocutor), or third (person being talked about). Place deixis functions as a reference for a place that is close to the speaker or a place that is far from the speaker. Time deixis functions as an indicator of the time of an event that has taken place, is taking place, and will take place. Meanwhile, social deixis functions to show the difference in social class between the speaker and the interlocutor and to maintain politeness values in society, and discourse deixis functions to explain something that has been discussed or something that will be discussed. | en_US |
